What Is the Difference Between VRS and VRI

Contents

Tive VRS and Tive VRI both involve interpreters, but they are used in different situations.

    • VRS: use when you are calling a hearing person through an interpreter.
    • VRI: use when you and the hearing person are physically together and need a remote interpreter to join by video.

VRS is generally covered under the telecommunications relay system. VRI is a paid service because it is direct interpreting and not a relay phone call.
